I think it would have been cool if the swarm was said to also use the genes from Lambent as well, since they have a similar mutation focus to their faction. That way they could have explored lambent/imulsion more.

I'm so psyched and ready, but one question that I'm having is mostly in regards to the weaponry. The main issue is the Lancer. I know they didn't have the Mk. 2 Lancer on E-Day, but seeing a Gears game without it feels so strange and surreal. It's THE signature weapon of the franchise, and I hope they find some way to work it in. However, to make that choice takes some balls, and I respect that and am willing to give them a chance.

I'm ready to go Grub killing, but the feels. The FEELs, man. I can't take them. They don't realize it's just day one of 18 years of pure, uncut, nonstop HELL.

Played every gears but this one and I feel I really did the story a dis service as this was the conclusion ..I’m going to get this game and play it all the way through just for the boys ..

While Clay is definitely my favorite character, I think I would have preferred if Ben had lived and seen his character grow to become like Clay's. Like, imagine if Ben had survived Hollow Storm and then, almost two years later during Gears 3, we cut to him and see him as the "Grub Killer" instead of Clay. That would have been amazing character development for him. With that said, his death is indeed tragic and helps to build up Clay's character as well as Marcus', who was clearly more troubled by Ben's death than Anthony's because Ben was HIS trainee and had a lot of potential as a Gear just from his first day in combat. Still, at least Clay gets to avenge his brother and keep the Carmine name alive.
